Days 13-21 (Pana, Menu, Volunteering)

This is Dina someone I met on the boat to Panajachel, she's actually from Panajachel.

We found a museum in Panajachel. Here some of the stuff we could take pics of.

This one looked like a strainer to us.

And we though this one might have gone with the strainer to make spaghetti :D

This is Angela, the youngest daughter of our homestay family. She has won the award for being first in her class, so she gets to wear this ribbon and lead any parades with flags.

This is called menu de pollo, is all the organs, feet and left overs of the all the chickens eaten in a celebration an event, cooked with noodles and made into soup. 

My mother schemed with the mother of our home stay family to pretend to serve it to me for dinner, to get back at me for locking her in the bathroom, hahaha!

Im volunteering 2-3 times/week to help build a house... I will get pics of the family soon!

Here I am sifting sand for the other workers to make concrete out of.

Coffee Plants grow all along side the roads and in empty lots here... that is... when bananas, oranges, avocados, papaya, lemons & juizcil arent already growing. It is really cool how so much food is growing in the trees  here! There are probably more, I just dont know wht they are (like the one we call Annatto - for natural red coloring. I will get more photos of fruit, etc for a later post.
